🌙 Sensitivity

Some people move through life with a nervous system that registers more than the words being spoken.

They sense the atmosphere in a room before anyone says a word.

They notice when something feels off between words and actions.

They pick up on glances, pauses, undercurrents, and subtle shifts in energy that others may never even notice.

Often, they assume everyone experiences the world this way.

That everyone can sense when something isn't right.

That everyone gets tired from chaos, masks, and people playing roles.

But that is not always the case.

Some nervous systems are built to filter out noise.

Others take in almost everything.

And when someone takes in so much, the body often keeps working in the background.

Trying to understand.

Make sense of things.

Reconcile contradictions.

Read the room.

Protect itself from unrest.

Over time, this can become exhausting.

Not necessarily because anything dramatic is happening.

But because the system never fully gets to rest.

That is why some people can feel completely drained after:

family gatherings,
airports,
busy places,
unspoken tension,
conflict,
or being around people who say one thing while feeling something entirely different.

It is not about weakness.

And it is not about being “too much.”

It is about sensitivity.

Many sensitive people learn early to adapt in order to create a sense of calm.

They try to regulate the atmosphere.

Understand others.

Create balance.

Explain.

Ease conflict before it even begins.

But at some point, something begins to change.

We realize that it is not our responsibility to correct the entire world.

That we do not have to make ourselves smaller because of other people's reactions.

That we do not need to explain ourselves in order to be accepted.

And perhaps the deepest realization arrives quietly:

Sensitivity may not be the problem.

Perhaps the problem is how much noise the world expects a person to tolerate.

Some people are simply not made for constant chaos, masks, and endless games.

Some need:

the ocean,
silence,
honesty,
nature,
creativity,
and spaces where the body no longer has to remain on constant alert.

Not to escape from life.

But to be fully present in it.

Perhaps sensitivity is not something that needs to be fixed.

Perhaps it is a language.

A language that knows when something is true. 💜
